New in the Film Archive: The Upstairs Room

The Upstairs Room, a short film by Tamsin Adeyemi-Holt, is now in our films archive.

Two sisters return to their late aunt's flat to empty it before the new tenants move in. They give themselves a single weekend. Everything goes to plan until they reach the room at the top of the stairs, which neither of them was allowed into as children, and which turns out to hold rather more than furniture.

The film runs for fourteen and a half minutes. It sits alongside Low Tide at Six and Salt Ledger, and it shares something with both of them: an interest in the objects people leave behind, and in the quiet work of the people who have to decide what to do with them.
