Mira Halloran
Dublin / Marseille
Mira Halloran is a poet and translator who divides her year between Dublin and Marseille. She translates contemporary French poetry into English and writes her own work in both languages, often starting a poem in one and finishing it in the other. Her first collection, Weather for Tenants, came out from a small press in Cork. She is working on a sequence about the kitchens she has lived in, which so far runs to twenty-three poems and one recipe.

POETRY
Inventory for a Kitchen Drawer
String used from both ends, two birthday candles and a key to a door we no longer have. A list poem for the drawer every kitchen has.

FILM & BOOK REVIEW
A Novel That Refuses to Leave the Kitchen
Clémence Aury's The Pantry Hours takes place over one year in one kitchen and never goes outside. In Tobias Wren's translation it is the quietest and most absorbing novel I have read this summer.

POETRY
Sublet
A short poem about living among someone else's cups, radiators and floorboards, and about how to give a key back.
