Dalia Serrat
Montpellier
Dalia Serrat is a poet and printmaker based in Montpellier. She cuts linocuts and woodblocks in small editions and writes poems that often begin as captions for prints she has not made yet. Her work moves between French, Arabic and English. On Saturday mornings she opens her studio to neighbours who want to learn to print, and most of them come back.

ARTWORK
The Colour of Rust
A printmaker spends a summer mixing a single red for five prints of rusted things. On colour as a decision you make once and then live with.

ARTWORK
Prints from a Winter Allotment
Six linocuts cut over one winter in a shared allotment garden, and a note on why the cabbages got the most ink.

POETRY
What the River Keeps
A shoe, a shopping trolley, the sound of a lorry crossing the bridge. A poem about what a river takes all year and what it shows us in August.
